๐ Buying a Domain
Where to buy a domain
The domain is the address
The domain is the address people type to find the site (e.g. `mayasbakery.com`). The client should always own it โ not you.
Recommended registrars
- Namecheapbeginners, clean UI, no upsell pressure. ~$10โ$14/yr.
- Cloudflare Registrardevelopers, at-cost pricing, no markup. ~$8โ$10/yr.
- Squarespace Domains (formerly Google Domains) โ simple, Google Workspace integration. ~$12/yr.
- GoDaddywidely known, fine if the client already uses it. ~$12โ$20/yr.
Rules to follow
- The client should own the domain in their own account โ not yours
- Always enable auto-renew so it doesn't accidentally expire
- Use the client's personal email as the account owner, not your own
- `.com` is still the standard. Only go with `.co`, `.io`, or `.net` if `.com` isn't available and the brand justifies it
